Integrative Medicine
What is it?
It is time, love and tenderness. Ok, not entirely. So what exactly are you paying for when you see a personal medical consultant? Well, lets go over some of the points:
1. Medical expertise and experience.
-
2. Undivided attention and listening.
-
3. Complete privacy, no third party payor intrusions.
-
4. Motivation for you to succeed with your health goals.
-
5. Physician with traditional experience and alternative options.
So my job is help you determine where you want to go and
then logically and efficiently help you get there. Your
job is to show up and put in good effort.
Can you get these things from Friends? Family? A
therapist? A Priest? In some part, yes. And if that works well
for you, then you have some valuable resources in your
life. But if you find you need the
whole package in one person, then you might want a personal integrative medicine physician.
Who gets help?
No one must, all may,
some should. If you have something in your life that is
a continual struggle and that you have thought a lot
about changing or made multiple attempts to change, but
have never quite done it, then you might benefit from
a personal medical consultant.
Many types of people from many walks of life opt for
this. Professionals, Homemakers, Single-moms,
College kids. Various situations spur this decision…
corporate life, managing home and family, work stress,
wellness and fitness goals, school stress, relationship
difficulties, or many other things.
How does it work?
We schedule an appointment.
This can be either in person if you are local or
over the phone if you are out of the area. It lasts for
about 90 minutes. In the first appointment we will setup the
important things for you in your life and what you
want to change. Then we come to a feasible plan for
doing that. Subsequent appointments we see how things are
progressing and what adjustments need to be made to the
original plan. When goals are completed we terminate
appointments.
Appointments are usually scheduled once a week.
Shorter times or less frequent times can be scheduled as
desired. Email is used for brief updates between
appointments. Some people need only a month or two to reach
their goal. Others need longer, depending on the
situation and complications. (For information on how equine therapy works, see EAP link and wordpress research paper. Also email for specific questions.)
How much does it cost?
My fees are $100 per 60 minutes. (I do have a few spaces for pro bono and reduced fee work. Please email for more info about this option.) Your initial consultation may be longer to allow for a complete history. I review with you your issues and history, discuss the process and how it can be of assistance to you, establish goals and action plans specific to your situation, and respond to your primary inquiries.
Results are more likely to occur when you have a caring,
informed, and interested person who is committed to your
well-being and to helping you commit to your own health
and wellness.
So… that’s a bit about integrative medicine. … at least the short
version!
