Change: Steps
So once you clear out time and cross out
energy draining activities to make space for change,
what steps do you take?
There are many programs and systems with different
advice on this. Some similarities and themes emerge.
One coach described it’s as simple as ABC:
A. Action oriented B. Bite-sized tasks C. Consistency
Action is the most important part. You have to actually
DO SOMETHING. But it is also easy to pick too big a
goal. Or not follow-up on plans. Or come up with a
non-workable plan. Or not get specific with your goal
(exactly What and When). Or fail to clear out space in
your life to implement a plan.
In addition to ABC is it also important to have
accountability and support. Many make of the mistake of
thinking that one can be one’s own support and
accountable to oneself. This usually results in
deviating from the plan as soon as will-power begins to
fade.
